Sangamon Reclaimed Makers Market will return in 2020
Sangamon Reclaimed hosted its first Makers Market on Saturday, November 30th which marks 10 years of Small Business Saturday. The event attracted hundreds of visitors and will return on Saturday, November 28, 2020.
Sangamon Reclaimed president and founder, Brian Frieze, said the Makers Market provided a great opportunity to highlight the many talented artisans and craftsmen and women here in Springfield. “At Sangamon Reclaimed we believe strongly about investing in and supporting local independent businesses like our own all year round. We were excited by the turnout and support from the community and cannot wait for next year’s event.”
Vendors included Pratt Woodworks, JM Creative Shop, Reclaimed Eclectic, Reiser Create, Rich Corr Designs, Seiz Pottery, Morgan Behnke (stained glass), David L. Ross Photography, Christy! Studios (painting), and Caty Staab (painting and leather). Kidzeum of Health & Science hosted a make and take workshop, Hannah Draughan Photography offered pictures with Santa, Just the Basics Mobile Bar sold holiday cocktails, there were carving demonstrations by Jon Morrissette and food available from Fast Break Food Truck. Attendees also enjoyed music by Folk/Americana Band, Idle/Oath.
Sarah Croft of Capital City Event Planning helped organize the event. “It was an incredible experience to see so many small business owners coming out to support fellow small business owners,” said Sarah. “Springfield has some of the most amazing and supportive small business owners and the Makers Market was a true testament to the fact that we all have the same hopes, dreams, and goals, and most importantly that we all are here to help each other along the way.”
Danny Reiser of Reiser Create said it was a worthwhile investment of his time. “Sangamon Reclaimed put together a great atmosphere with lots of room for more vendors to come along in the future now that we know the foot traffic will come. I believe this event was a great success as a stepping stone towards annual, semi-annual, or seasonal events in their facility. I am looking forward to more.”
